What makes Fireflies Academy unique?
We have small cohorts at a 1:5 ratio for all age groups. Our teachers are full-time at The Academy which means your children have the same teacher for a year or maybe even years. We have a unique facility that allows students to travel to rooms and spaces that are specifically designed and themed for academic, social, and physical development. We utilize a curriculum that is intentional about goals for our students. We also provide parents with as much of an inclusive tuition system as possible because we know how much work it takes to get our kiddos ready and out the door every day. We believe in quality systems which is why we utilize a digital application for documents, payments, students' daily pictures and information, and messaging and communication.
What is the educational philosophy of The Academy?
The best way to describe our educational philosophy or our pedagogy is to say that we take the best pieces of the best models and apply them all. We want our students to be able to lead and follow, listen and speak, create and understand, play and investigate, empathize and see truth. We set out to teach them to be curious about all things and be able to focus on one. We want them to see the beauty and usefulness of nature and technology.
So we don't claim a curriculum from the classical education philosophies, or the constructivist, or even the behaviorist, or cognitive theories. What we do claim is to use all of them intentionally in the moments where they are needed and most effective.
What are the qualifications of the teachers at Fireflies Academy?
We plan to hire the best staff. Our cohort teachers are full-time teachers at Fireflies Academy. They have each been hired intentionally because of their unique skill set. Collectively our team of teachers has twenty-five years or more of experience educating children in a variety of settings. Although we don't require our teachers to have a teaching license, we do invest in college classes, early childhood education conferences, and research and books on the best practices. They are committed professionals and we strive to treat them as such. They truly are the heartbeat of The Academy.
What does my child need on their first day of school?
Please bring a packed lunch, snack, and an ice pack with them. The rest of what they need for the day we have ready for them. We want to help make our working parents' lives as simple as we can!
